You may have noticed in the calendar that the first of our two fitness challenges is to be starting this week. This event will be happening after Christmas as well but we wanted to get the program underway this week.
Here is how it works:
Groups
The campus will be divided into the following groups:
Academic departments (Faculty & Students combined)
PAA Students
PAA Faculty/Staff
CUC Administration
CUC Staff (we are still considering breaking the CUC Staff into smaller groups)
Loma Linda Marriage & Family Therapy
Exercise VS Physical Activity
Exercise by definition is activity you intentionally do for the purpose of improving your physical fitness. Physical activity on the other hand, is all the activity you do throughout the day. This program will focus on and record only your exercise although it would be good for all of us to increase our physical activity.
How to Record
Please email Olga at gymstaff@cauc.ca with your total number of minutes of exercise. She will put it on the CUC web page under the appropriate category so that everyone can view the totals whenever they wish.
Scoring
Each person will send their daily totals (exercise minutes) to Olga and she will enter them on the web site. The scores are weighed based on the number of people in each group so everyone is competing on a level playing field (i.e. a larger group will not get ahead of a smaller group just by number of people).
It will take a day or two to get everything up and running but begin your exercise today and begin your record keeping as of November 11. This first phase of the competition will end December 5. The BIG EVENT will happen after Christmas when we are all making resolution to get in shape and lose those extra pounds. |
