Canadian University College offers a full service cafeteria for residence
hall students, faculty, staff and guests. More than 100 Years ago, the
Seventh-Day Adventist church received a special gift in the form of eight
simply things people can do to live a vibrant life. There has been a
resurgence of interest in healthful living and a proliferation of health
publications and resources within the past few years. However, no one else
has improved on the eight gifts; no one else has come up with a more
complete package. “Pure air, sunlight, abstemiousness (temperance), rest,
exercise, proper diet, the use of water and trust in divine power – these
are the true remedies,” wrote Ellen G. White in The Ministry of Healing
(pg. 127). These eight remedies are the heart of the cafeteria’s
approach to food services. A simple way to remember them is by the acronym
