E-mail Account iPrint NetStorage Wireless Access Stop Plates Computer Labs TurnItIn.com Each student will have a GroupWise e-mail account created for them. These will be accessible from any computer (on campus or off) with an internet connection, or browser enabled cell phones. This email account will remain accessible throughout the school year and the summer. If you return in the fall your account will still remain. If you do not return in the fall your account will be deleted after registration. You can access your CUC GroupWise e-mail from anywhere that the Internet is available. To access your account outside of the labs, Just point your browser to the CUC Web Page and click on the GroupWise Mail link on the bottom of the page. Your e-mail address will be the same as your LOGIN name, followed by @cauc.ca (ie: jdoe@cauc.ca) User Name: This is your Novell LOGIN name. (First initial followed by last name) Password: The password is the same as your Novell Network Login Password. Back to Top If you have a computer that is connected to the campus network (ie. with a wireless device) you may print to any of the student lab, library or dorm printers. Just click here to install the iPrint client (restart your computer after the install is finished) and then go to the iPrint site here to select which printer you would like to install. After the printer is installed, it will show up on your printer list just like an other printer, and as long as you are connected to our network, you can select it to print to. This service is only available on campus. Back to Top NetStorage is a service that will allow network directories from a browse interface without having the full Novell Client installed. If you access this service computer connected to out campus network, you will have access to your H: drive (Home Directory) and any other mapped drives, such as the I: drive where teaches shared files are available. If you access the service from off-campus, only the H: drive will be accessible. Back to Top Wireless Access to Campus Network For students who have their own computers, Computer Services makes available wireless network cards for a rental fee. If your laptop has an 802.11b/g compatible wireless device built-in, or you own your own device, you may also use it (as long as you register it with Computer Services first). Students using these will be able to attach to the campus network with their personal computers in Lakeview Hall, Maple Hall, the Science Centre, the Administration building, the Education Centre and the Library. Wireless Access Points have also, recently been installed in West Hall, Outward Pursuits, P.A.A. and the P.E. Complex. Currently the only buildings where our wireless network is not available are North Hall, Marketing & Enrollment and Plant Services. By using the iFolder, you can access files that you have saved from other computers. NetStorage will allow you to access your H: drive, and other mapped resources you have been granted rights to. iPrint will also enable you to print to selected campus printers. All computers that participate in Campus Network Services (including Internet) must be configured by Computer Services who will install and configure the network card and software as part of the service. All users will be required to sign a statement saying that they have read, and will abide by the policies in place. The terms of the Wireless Network Agreement are stated on the back of the Wireless Network Agreement form that students are required to sign when getting their connection setup. There is no service rate for wireless rental, but a fee of $30 per semester is charged if the rental of a wireless device is needed. For renters of our wireless devices we will charge the full amount for both first and second semester ($60) upon setup, and upon return of the card in full working order, your account will be credited back the amount not used. Your account will be charged the cost of replacement for damaged cards. For a detailed description on what Computer Services will do to configure your computer, click here. Back to Top For students or faculty/staff who have their own computers, Computer
Services has available a theft deterrent, called the STOP security
plate, for $15. These are nearly impossible to remove, and if removed,
an indelibly etched tattoo is left, that makes it pretty hard to sell.
For more information on these,
click here. The code on each plate is registered to the student, and
your information may be updated when you leave campus. If a stolen
device is recovered, the company will assist police in returning it to
the owner. Please contact us if
you would like one installed on your computer or laptop.
